I live between so many worlds but none more beautiful, complicated and painful than the Diaspora and the continent of Africa. There is such a deep spiritual connection and simultaneously such a painful disconnection. Both sides carry the burden of memory that leaves us bound, yet fractured by the pain of our experience, with the world and each other. The spirit world has called upon some of its children to be a bridge, a salve, a facilitator of our re-connection. I am one of those chosen. I know without a doubt that it is the key to activating our global liberation. I am because you are. In this spirit T. Barnes Global Travel will be hosting “Working Toward Black” a series of conversations between continental Africans and Africans of the diaspora to explore what has been severed, deconstructing the things we say about the other in a desperate and intentional push toward understanding.
